The EIPM simulation tool: Bee Compass

What is it?    

Bee Compass is a simulation tool which is based on the principles of the methodologies of progress. Set up in order to facilitate the learning principles of the methodology, it is a clear and visual guideline to assuring a continuous improvement by applying the methodology in a segment or family of your choice in order to:
 

  • Define the purchasing process for this segment/family.
  • Analyse the 4 types of constraints (internal technical, internal commercial, external technical and external commercial) to each stage of purchasing process.
  • For each type of constraint and each stage of purchasing process identify the best levers to use in order to minimise the effect of the constraints or eliminate them in order to achieve objectives.
  • Make different simulations to analyse the impact of levers chosen in the matrix of constraints.
  • Come up with a clear implementation plan.

Objectives    

By using the tool in a real case, it’s easier to understand and apply what is learned by doing. It’s a step by step approach which defines structure and obliges to go through all the elements without forgetting essentials. It helps to have a clear diagnosis of the actual situation, by identifying dysfunctions and bottle necks. It gives a real operational tool to be used in a daily basis for achieving objectives. It helps to envelop all the variables which affect performance, giving a mean to identify priorities and a clear plan of action.

  • The most critical stages in purchasing process.
  • A complete list of constraints and the identification of the ones to be treated in priority

2.A list of best levers to be implemented in priority.
