Online organisations excellence assessment

Assess the Excellence of your Organisation and compete to win a Procurement Award!

2010 EIPM Peter Kraljic Awards

Why assess my organisation?

The assessment tool will allow you to:

  • Understand strengths and weaknesses in your procurement organisation,
  • Identify opportunities for how you can improve its performance and increase the value delivered to customers and stakeholders.
  • Gain insight into how your organisation compares to other companies, both overall and based on your profile characteristics such as your activity, company size, region, etc.
  • Allow your organisation to qualify and become a candidate for the annual EIPM awards.

Why apply for the EIPM Awards?

These annual Awards are given at the beginning of December in Geneva, during the Annual EIPM Convention.

The purpose of the Awards is to recognise procurement organisations that:

  • Could be role models for others
  • Deliver outstanding performance to their company
  • Demonstrate high levels of creativity and innovation
  • Implement and deploy advanced and efficient processes
  • Respect and develop suppliers
  • Are environmentally and socially responsible

The application for the Awards, using the assessment tool, is complemented by a rigorous nomination process, founded on fact-based criteria, the EFQM Excellence Model and EFQM best practices.

The whole process is managed by the Awards Jury, comprised of industry leaders, academics and consultants. The Jury nominates finalists based on the content of their assessment, and selects the winners after on-site visits by professional assessors, who validate the information and evidence of performance provided in the assessment.

This process is fully compatible with application for the EFQM Awards and can be re-used when your company decides to apply for any EFQM recognition or award.

Using the tool

The EIPM self-assessment tool allows you to rate your organisation’s processes against a precise scale of 0 to 10, and rate its results on a scale of 0 to 5.
Nearly a hundred points of reference in total are used to evaluate the different aspects of your organisation against the EFQM Excellence Model in a manner that has been customised to procurement and management of external resources.

You may progress through the assessment at your own pace and undertake sections in any sequence you like. The Self Assessment tool remains an on-line working document until you decide to validate and freeze your input. At this point, the tool calculates your organisation’s score and provides you with feedback on how you compare to the best in class.

Fields are also available for you to make notes and add document details with your response for further reference. Filling these fields is mandatory if you decide to apply for the awards, as their content will be used for the selection of the finalists.

Note: It is important to conduct the self-assessment in the most honest and rigorous manner. Inaccurate or perfunctory responses will defeat the purpose of the tool, which will be unable to provide accurate feedback on your organisation’s strengths and weaknesses, as well as possibly creating distortions for all users.
Getting started

Once you decide to participate, the process to follow is simple:

  • Access the tool on the web by clicking on the «Continue» button on the home page
  • Identify yourself
  • Describe the organisation you wish to assess or enrol for the Awards
  • Accept the terms and conditions of use.

You will then receive an access key that will allow you to log into the tool and start the assessment.

Note: The most efficient way to run the assessment is to treat it as a team project, involving the heads of the various procurement departments that exist at the level that you have selected.
This teamwork approach will give you the most detailed insight into all the aspects of procurement covered by the assessment, as well as accurate visibility of the maturity and deployment of processes and the level of results achieved. This is by far the best way to collect facts, data and evidence.
