Research Mission Statement

The EIPM research centre mission is to provide companies with leading edge research in purchasing and supply chain management.

The purpose is to increase their ability in managing successfully in the face of increasingly complex markets, feeding simultaneously the evolution of the academic thought in those areas and our teaching activities with the final objective to translate research into action.

The creation of that research centre became a necessity for different reasons:

  •   Lack of a real European dimension in the purchasing research.
  •   The actual gap between purchasing academic research and business world.
  •   The necessity to anticipate the future in purchasing and supply management.
  •   The need to assist purchasing function in its forthcoming development.

The EIPM applied research process

Along those past 20 years, the EIPM has developed Education and Trainings.

Those developments are based on the EIPM applied research activities and on the high level education of its programmes (the EIPM MBA is the sole MBA in Strategic Sourcing and Supply Management worldwide being accredited by AMBA).

All those findings are then cascaded on the different EIPM standard trainings and ad-hoc workshops.

Implementation of a simple, systematic process to create tools and develop new contents:

This process has enabled the EIPM to be the first organisation which has:

  • Created the concept of “upstream purchasing” in the early 90’s.
  • Worked on “SRM” in the late 90’s.
  • Deployed the idea of “value contribution” early 2000’s.
  • Entranced the “sale side” of the procurement function.

The results of those applied researches have enabled the EIPM to develop:

  • The EIPM Talent Assessment Tool.
  • The supplier relationship assessment.
  • The assessment of the procurement organisation (based on the EFQM framework).
